Welcome, young visionaries! At BlackStarAcademy we put students at the forefront. We are inviting passionate young individuals aged 8-16 to be part of our revolutionary journey in transforming online education for Black youth.
As a member of BrightSPARKs (Student Panel Active Representation and Knowledge), not only will you play a crucial role in shaping our curriculum but also our school.

Your Role as a BrightSPARK?
As a member of our student advisory panel, you'll:
Provide insights on our holistic curriculum that aligns with the national standards while incorporating Black history and STEM.
Offer feedback on our online learning environment and suggest improvements.
Represent your peers and bring their ideas and concerns to the forefront.
Collaborate with educators to ensure our classes meet the needs of Black students.
Time Commitment
Time Commitment
Minimum 1-hour meeting every fortnight during term time
Starting from January of the upcoming school year
Additional time may be required for special projects or events

We're looking for students who demonstrate:
Passion for education and Black empowerment
Creative thinking and problem-solving skills
Strong communication abilities
Commitment to community service

Write Your Spark Essay
Topic: "Why I Want to Join Bright SPARKs and How I Can Contribute to BlackStarAcademy"
Length: 300-500 words
Focus on your ideas for improving online education for Black youth

All applications will be reviewed by our selection committee and you will be notified by the 1st January 2025

Q: Can I apply if I'm not currently enrolled in BlackStarAcademy?
A: Yes, you are welcome to apply if you are not currently enrolled or planning to enrol. Applications from enrolled students will be prioritised.
Q: Will being a Bright SPARK affect my regular studies?
It shouldn't do, we have designed the time commitment to be manageable alongside your current education.
We believe this experience will enhance your overall academic journey.
